Pashupati Foundation

Feeding Programme

Feeding refers to the systematic and consistent provision of nutritious food to stray cats and dogs living on the streets.
At Pashupati Foundation, our feeding programme ensures that vulnerable animals receive clean, safe, and adequate meals on a regular schedule. This helps maintain their basic health, reduces daily stress, and creates a stable foundation for further welfare interventions such as medical care, sterilization, and eventual adoption.
What is Feeding?
Why is Feeding Important?
1. Addresses Basic Survival Needs
For most stray animals, access to food is unpredictable and often insufficient. Regular feeding ensures they receive the nourishment required for survival, growth, and resilience against harsh weather and health issues.
2. Supports Better Health Outcomes
A well-fed animal is significantly less prone to infections, weakness, and disease. Adequate nutrition strengthens immunity, improves coat and skin condition, and enhances overall wellbeing.
3. Helps Build Trust and Socialization
Feeding allows animals to slowly build trust with humans.
This trust is essential for rescue operations, medical treatments, and preparing animals for foster care or adoption.
4. Reduces Aggression and Street Conflict
Hunger often leads to defensive or aggressive behaviour in strays. Consistent feeding reduces such stress-driven conflicts, creating safer environments both for animals and for local communities.
5. Forms the Foundation for Long-Term Welfare
Feeding is the first step toward comprehensive animal welfare. Once feeding points are established, it becomes easier to monitor animals, track their health, provide vaccinations, initiate sterilization drives, and identify those suitable for adoption or foster homes.
Through our feeding programme, Pashupati Foundation aims to ensure that no stray cat or dog is left without a meal. We believe that regular feeding is not just an act of compassion but a crucial component of building a humane, responsible, and compassionate society for animals and humans alike.
